Nan Lian Garden & Chi Lin Nunnery

Nan Lian Garden,
heaven right in the middle of a concrete jungle.
Hong Kong is, by far, the most happening city I've visited. It's noisy and constantly bustling. Sometimes, it feels like you can't escape the noise and crowds of people, but in reality, there are some places where you can, like Nan Lian Garden and Chi Lin Nunnery; the nunnery is located inside the garden. It's a gorgeous area, and best of all, it's peaceful. A stroll through the garden only takes about an hour, but you can spend up to two hours there if you stop frequently, which I suggest everyone do because it's worth it.

The area is easy to access. Just take Kwun Tong Line (green) to Diamond Hill Station .  I don't recall which exit to take, but if you look at the exit information, you will see the garden and nunnery on the list. Admission to the garden and nunnery is free, yet there are some restricted sections that are not open to the public.

Chi Lin Nunnery.

 Nan Lian Garden

Nan Lian Garden is exceptionally beautiful! The landscapes are stunning and there is ample room to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.  Although the garden was created in ancient Tang Dynasty style, it was opened just 7 years ago in 2006.

The garden is to the left of this overpass.

The entrance.

Pond with little fishies.
The Pavilion of Perfection.
The stairs were my favorite color, so a
picture was a must!
Gorgeous trees.
A cool water wheel, located next to the vegetarian restaurant
operated by the nunnery.

A small pagoda.
A lake with carp.
I find it interesting how the garden is flanked by high-rise buildings.
Awesome decorative rocks.
Naturally, the flowers are the highlight of the garden.
There was no lack of flower arrangement to pose by!

Chi Lin Nunnery

Chi Lin Nunnery (Buddhist) is within the grounds of Nan Lian Garden and was also built in Tang Dynasty style; buildings were constructed without nails. There are several beautiful plants and statues in the public section of nunnery.
The nunnery's main building.
I love those red flowers.
The door to the main area.

There were pops of color everywhere.
A lovely pond with lilly pads.

I liked the pristine nature of that pillar.
The roofing was impressive.
My dad standing at the main building.
There were many tourists at the garden and nunnery, but it didn't feel crowded. In between all the glitz, glamour, and excitement Hong Kong has to offer, Nan Lian Garden and Chi Lin Nunnery gives everyone a chance to enjoy nature.
